If you have Marshall or something with EL34 then EVH5150 with 6L6 is a solid choice of an alternative high gain amp. The EVH excels at low volume big distortion. The gain staging is extreme for CH2 and CH3.

It’s loaded with Chinese G12M’s and V30’s but I believe you can special order one from Dave. Bogner makes good cabs too but sound more modern imo.
