Got 5/8th groups with IMR-4895 powder! I'm impressed. Shot my first animal with the 6.5x55 end of Feb, hog. shot in the neck just behind the hear and just fell down dead. The only 25 cal I used for deer was a 25-06 with the 117 spbt GK #1630. distance was right around 150 yards. It came apart in the vitals, broadside shot. WebJan 1, 2024 · I've seen the .308 win do excellent work on elk of all sizes with cup and core bullets. I wouldn't think twice about using the 165 grn HotCor or even Federal Blue Box 150s.
